Talking Points | Hey, What's Your Shirt Mean?
"And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace." - John 1:16
Jesus is full of grace and truth. All humans, regardless of their relationship with Jesus, receive God's grace by the sheer fact that He sent Jesus to take our place on the cross, for our salvation. Everyone can receive the gift of God's grace, just be being human! When we receive salvation and seek to follow Him, He continually makes us more and more like Him. We are being given this grace, on top of the grace already given to by Jesus dying on the cross for us.
By definition, grace means "being given wha you don't deserve." Grace is a gift from God -- not because we deserve it, but because He is good! For sure, we do not deserve it, but He loves us unconditionally anyway! As Christians, we should give out this same grace we've been given to those around us. Our character should reflect that of Jesus.
When talking to someone about the shirt, maybe given an example of a time in your life that you clearly know you did not deserve it! (We've all been there). But how Jesus pulled through for you in mighty ways, even still.
