Talking Points | Hey, What's Your Shirt Mean?
"And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Jireh: as it is said to this day, in the mount of the Lord it shall be seen" - Genesis 22:14. If we look at a different translation (ESV), the verse ends in "on the Mount of the Lord, it shall be provided."
Jireh appears just once in the Bible, and this mount is the location where the Lord told Abraham to give his son Isaac as a burnt offering. Abraham gave it the name "Jireh" because God did provide -- He provided a ram to be sacrificed in Isaac's place. Pretty big provision, huh?
This is a pretty dramatic example! But proof of God's provision. The Lord WILL provide. That means in the future tense, too. He provided for Abraham, and He will also provide for you.
He is our provider. He will provide.
